Our Ministry
Scott and Ruth Hill are career missionaries with Mission to the World - one of the mission outreach arms of the Presbyterian Church in America.
The Hills live in Cherokee where they are involved in church planting. Grace Community Church of Cherokee began holding worship services on June 5, 2016. We seek to reach out into the community with the Gospel of the Jesus Christ to see lives and communities transformed.
Ways to be Involved
There are different ways to be involved with the ministry here in Cherokee.
You can partner with us through prayer and giving. You can bring a short term team to serve with us and others for a week. There are also opportunities available to serve a two-month internship during the summer.

Why Is Gumby Here?
In Cherokee we have a saying that we hope everyone who comes will learn to live by.
The saying is Semper Gumby, or by our translation, "Always flexible." That is how we need to learn to live our lives in order to allow Christ to work both in us and through us.
Why are we in Cherokee?
We are often asked the question, "What brought you to Cherokee, NC?" The best way to answer that question, without sounding either overly simple or overly spiritual, is to say that God has called us here to this ministry. We believe that God has called us to show the love of Christ, through our words and our actions, to the people we come in contact with. Our desire is to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with those who do not know Him and to see God take those feeble human efforts and call men to Himself. As we see men and women come to know Christ we are praying that God would raise up a body of believers who would become the core group to begin a church plant in Cherokee.
We would appreciate your prayers and your support as we work toward that end. Pray for God's blessing on this ministry and that He would raise up a people for Himself who would desire to worship Him and serve Him as they minister first in their own communities and as they reach out beyond those communities to rest of the world.
